In simple terms, what is LED light therapy?
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, which is a light source. During treatment an LED facial light is used to produce specific wavelengths of light that are absorbed into your skin. Your skin then uses this light energy as fuel to drive cellular reactions, such as the production of proteins and lipids that are required for building and restoring the skin, or increased intercellular communication and purification.
What should I expect from an LED light Therapy Treatment?

I have read that different coloured lights are used for different types of skin concerns such as Facial Rejuvenation/Anti-ageing or Acne prone skin. How does this work and what other types of skin conditions can light therapy treat?
Different colours represent different wavelengths of light. The different wavelengths have unique properties and can therefore be used to target certain skin conditions. For example, the wavelength of light that corresponds to blue light (around 480nm) can be used for acne treatments. This is because blue light is absorbed by porphyrins, which are molecules that are produced by P. acnes, the bacteria that causes acne. On absorption, the light creates a chemical change, resulting in free radicals. The free radicals then kill the bacteria from the inside, without harming the skin cells. On the other hand, red light, which corresponds to a wavelength of closer to 650nm, stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin and thereby improves skin strength, elasticity and plumpness and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
LED light therapy can also be used to treat rosacea, calm red capillaries, promote healing, improve recent scarring, reduce swelling, heal bruising, clear pigmentation, decrease dark circles under the eyes, prevent aging and increase hydration.
